    Responsibilities

    At Quest, the Camp Lifeguard is responsible for planning, facilitating and supervising camp aquatic activities as well as assisting activity staff in other activities and cabin staff during cabin time.

    Ensures that aquatic safety regulations for guests and fellow staff members are followed, including providing lifeguard coverage of camp aquatic activities and training staff on pool rules and programming.

    • Creates and implements lesson plans in aquatics areas appropriate for guest's variety of abilities and interests.
    • Conducts checks of aquatics areas and equipment for safety, cleanliness and good repair, including performing pool chemical checks and documentation, ensuring that all American Camp Association standards are met.
    • Inventories aquatic areas at start and end of summer season and informs Activity Lead of any equipment or supplies needs.
    • Maintains a resort-like environment for persons served, other team members and visitors.
    • Cares for guests by assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting (including incontinent care), feeding, repositioning, and basic first aid as needed.
    • Lives on-site during summer season to ensure availability to meet guest's needs during their stay at camp.
    • Plans, documents, and facilitates evening programs and all-camp activities as assigned.
    • Participates actively in all required camp trainings and meetings, facilitating specific training sessions/meetings when assigned.
    • Recognizes guest achievement through camp guest recognition programs and determines awards appropriately.
    • Follows all Quest policies and procedures as outlined in the Camp Thunderbird staff manual.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Eligible to legally work in the United States
    • Be at least 18 years of age
    • Successfully complete a background check and drug screen
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English
    • Ability to thrive in a team environment
    • Valid FL Driver's License with a clean driving record
    • Ability to provide proof of educational achievement or required certifications such as a high school diploma, GED, college degree, advanced degree, or medical credentials
    • Certified Lifeguard by American Red Cross or similar governing body required
    • Experience as a lifeguard strongly preferred
