    Responsibilities

    At Quest, the Camp Kitchen Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing the seasonal food service operations, providing leadership amongst kitchen staff team.

    • Masters all the skills and competencies of the Kitchen Staff position.
    • Responsible for cooking all camp meals and/or directing Kitchen Staff in preparation of meals.
    • Mentors, supervises and leads Kitchen Staff on an ongoing basis, providing regular feedback and in-service training.
    • Manages kitchen staff and meal preparation schedule.
    • Supervises the inventory of kitchen areas and manages the ordering of needed kitchen supplies, equipment, etc.
    • Oversees risk management of food service and kitchen facilities, ensuring that camp safety regulations for guests and staff members are followed.
    • Keeps hazardous chemicals locked and away from guests and other staff.
    • Transitions kitchen areas from off-season to camp season at beginning of summer and vice versa at the end of summer camping season.
    • Manages and completes all necessary kitchen-related paperwork (e.g. temperature logs, food orders, etc.).
    • Orders food and paper supplies, and oversees the intake of all deliveries.
    • Ensures all American Camp Association standards regarding kitchen service.
    • Creates and implements the camp menu under the supervision of the Assistant Camp Director.
    • Maintains a resort-like environment for persons served, other team members and visitors.
    • Participates actively in all required trainings.
    • Follows all Quest policies and procedures as outlined in the Camp Thunderbird Staff Manual
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Eligible to legally work in the United States
    • Be at least 18 years of age
    • Successfully complete a background check and drug screen
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English
    • Ability to thrive in a team environment
    • Valid FL Driver's License with a clean driving record
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education in culinary arts preferred
    • ServSafe Food Handler certification or equivalent required; experience in cooking for large groups preferred
